Ultrafast Broadband now live in Stocksfield and Mickley

Stocksfield and Mickley residents now have access to ultrafast broadband speeds thanks to the installation of full fibre across the rural Northumberland villages.

Growing ISP, Fusion Fibre Group (formerly known as FACTCO) has been working alongside Northumberland County Council to future-proof Stocksfield and Mickley with ultrafast broadband speeds of up to 1000Mbps.

Since February they’ve been rolling out connections to ultrafast broadband across the two villages. Now more than 30 residents are experiencing the full fibre broadband difference!

Mr. Proszowski, whose internet previously “reached 32 Mbps on a good day”, has experienced significant improvement in the speed and reliability of their home broadband since his installation.

Mr. Proszowski said: “The connection is brilliant. There are no longer arguments over who can use the internet. I get to watch the football while the rest of my family stream Netflix.”

Fusion Fibre Group’s Head of National Sales, Gary Spooner, said he’s glad the community are finally able to embrace the advantages ultrafast broadband: “Although the network build presented its fair share of challenges, witnessing the positive reaction to vastly improved speeds has been incredibly rewarding for the whole team.

The support of County Councillor for Stocksfield and Mickley Anne Dale made this network upgrade possible.

Councillor Dale said: “I am so pleased to see, at last, the introduction of the ultrafast broadband in both Stocksfield and Mickley. The new connection will bring a multitude of benefits for both residents and businesses in the area which I welcome.”

Residents in the area were given the opportunity to learn more about the first phase of the new service roll out at an event at Stocksfield Community Centre on Tuesday 19 March.

The next release of live properties is currently expected in May and further events will be held for residents.

New era of connectivity

Work is underway nationwide to prepare for all broadband and landline services to be offered digitally through full fibre broadband technology ahead of the PSTN switch-off.

Councillor Richard Wearmouth, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Corporate Services at Northumberland County Council added: “It is fantastic to see the best broadband capabilities being rolled out across Northumberland and I would like to thank all the teams involved for making this happen.

“I would encourage everyone with access to this upgraded service in the area to find out more about it from Fusion Fibre Group to see what they can deliver.”
